Frequently Asked Questions
What is Literary Lit Book Club?
Literary Lit Book Club is a NYC-based book club that bridges literary works of art with communal fellowship.
When and where does it meet?
Literary Lit Book Club meets every last Saturday of the month from January to August. Some months we meet at an undisclosed location in the New York City Tristate area and other months we opt to pick a location that pairs well with our monthly book pick.
We’re Versatile.
What time does Book Club begin and how long does it run?
1:30 - 3:30pm.
Is there an attendance policy?
Yes, if you do decide to join, please note that you will be dismissed from book club if you miss (3) consecutive meetings in a row.
Do I have to read the book to attend the meetings?
No, you do not have to read the book of the month to attend the meetings. We know life can get hectic therefore completion of the literary text is not necessary to engage in fellowship. We believe in welcoming all individuals to engage in the conversation because it is more than likely relatable to your everyday dealings regardless if the text is finished or not. We all have a voice in this book club and who are we to deny any individual their right to connect with a valid literary community to speak their truths?
Can I bring friends?
We love you all but sadly, space is limited and we are only accepting subscribed members of the book club to our meetings. (No New Friends!)
If you plan on attending the meeting it is common courtesy to RSVP. The RSVP link can be found in your monthly email that will be sent to you upon joining the book club.
Why do I need to RSVP?
RSVPing to our meetings is essential to allow the book club team to properly prepare for the people who are coming. The RSVPs tell us how many chairs we need, how many waters we need, as well as how much supplies to bring. Without an RSVP, we cannot accommodate you.
Can I still come if I am running late/don't RSVP?
Yes, you can come late, but if you don’t RSVP, you will have to sit that month’s meeting out. (No.)
What if I do not fall under the category of “female”?
We welcome all individuals with the pronouns of she and/or her as well as all individuals that are trans and cis gender wanting to belong to a open-minded literary community.
As of March 2020, we have now opened our bookclub to men. We love the diverse perspectives everyone brings!
What is discussed at meetings?
The conversations are based on the topics mentioned within the monthly book choice. The discussions begin to elevate based on the commentary and experiences of our members as told by themselves.
The lively dialogue has always been reality based and relatable to all walks of life.
How are the books chosen?
We take suggestions from all members of the book club. The monthly books are then chosen in a majority rules manner by all members of the book club.
What if I dislike the book?
It has happened in the past, we still have a grand time discussing our opinions!
Can I read the book on an electronic device?
Yes, you are welcome to have the hard or electronic copy of any text we read. Please keep in mind, if you choose the ($30) Premium membership of having the book delivered to your house then you are choosing to have the tangible copy.

What if I can't come to meetings, do I still have to pay for that month?
